The Financial Accountant role reports into the Assistant Director of Finance and has effective oversight for the Financial Accounting team. The role will be responsible for a team of four in total to facilitate effective delivery of the organisations statutory accounts and improve the finances teams' financial controls. This is a newly created role and is designed to act as a key support to the Assistant Director of Finance. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a practical approach to designing processes and engaging a new team.

St Mungo's provides a bed and support to more than 2,500 people a night who are either homeless or at risk, and works to prevent homelessness, helping about 25,000 people a year. They believe no one should be homeless and that people can – and do – recover from the issues that create homelessness. St Mungo's support men and women through more than 200 projects including emergency hostel and supportive housing projects, advice services and specialist physical health, mental health, skills and work services.

Detailed Job Description

The Financial Accountant would have the following responsibilities:

Leading the production of the Group's annual statutory accounts and oversight of the preparation of the subsidiary statutory accounts. Be the main contact point for the organisations external auditors.
Management and development of the Financial Accounting team.
Responsibility for ensuring all relevant taxes are identified and accurately processed including VAT, Gift Aid and Corporation tax.
Manage cash flow and treasury management monitoring processes through efficient credit control and payment process and oversight of treasury activities.
Oversight of the accounting for fundraising income, grants and legacies.

Candidate's Profile

You will be an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant with strong technical experience and a track record of managing a team. Alongside this you will have first rate technical skills and the ability to produce Group annual statutory accounts. You will also need to have experience of VAT, tax and FRS102.

Strong team management experience is essential to this role and specifically, managing and developing a management information team through a period of change.

Benefits-Flexi-time arrangements which are highly valued by staff. Core hours are 10.30 to 3.30 and staff can carry over up to three days (pro-rata for part-time) days' flexi-leave carry over from one four week period to the next and take up to three days flexi-leave in any four week period.

A pension scheme after six months service, 6% employer contribution conditional upon 4% employee.
