Financial Controller

Gleeson Recruitment Group are looking to recruit a Financial Controller for a growing manufacturing business based in Coventry. This is an amazing opportunity to get involved in an ever changing, fast moving business who are going to be involved in some very exciting projects over the next 18 months. You must be fully qualified and will have strong technical accounting knowledge coupled with strong team management skills. You will be responsible for the internal and external reporting for the Head Office and its subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and the maintenance of appropriate financial controls across the HQ and the UK sites.

The Company

The successful Financial Controller will be working for a highly profitable business who are part of a much larger Group who operate across 25 sites in the UK. You will be working with a small and talented team who are tenured and understand how the business operates both in finance and on the shop floor.

The Role

As the Financial Controller you will:

• Preparation of the monthly financial accounts for the Group including monthly reporting
• Preparation of statutory accounts for the Group and related companies including pension schemes
• Oversight and management of month end and year end processes including being the primary contact for all planning and coordination with external auditors
• Key point of contact for pension scheme administrators and trustees, oversight of all activities the company undertakes on behalf of the pension schemes
• Ensuring all Treasury matters are appropriately managed through the monitoring of loans, bank accounts, mandates and authorisation protocols
• Staff management of the financial accounting and master data management teams, ensuring staff are appropriately trained and developed
• Ensuring the timely and compliant preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Setting, maintaining and monitoring the controls environment for the Group both at head office and across the sites, including leading the monthly balance sheet reconciliation and review process
• Preparation of draft corporation tax computations and liaison with external tax advisors to ensure timely completion and submission
• Ensuring all appropriate accounting standards are adhered to and changes are understood and implemented in a timely manner
• Work with FP&A to ensure one version of the truth at all times for both backward looking and forward looking financial information
• Work closely with FP&A and the site Finance Directors to understand forthcoming business changes and proactively ensure that financial accounting and control requirements are addressed

The Candidate

As the successful Financial Controller you will be:

• A fully qualified Chartered Accountant
• Manufacturing background would be preferential
• Consolidation experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong team management skills
