About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant to join our Project Finance team to work in Coleshill.

Role Purpose: 

  • To provide first class Project Finance support to project / site management;
  • Responsible for financial control on the project and assisting the Finance Manager in providing insight and reporting for the project and visibility to the project leadership team.

What you'll be doing

As a Project Accountant you will: 

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Act as a Business Partner to site teams;
  • Embed robust contract cost control process which mitigate disallowed costs;
  • Establish good working relationships with other team members and contribute to overall team objectives;
  • Develop and provide financial reporting / management information to support the Finance Manager and project leadership team;
  • Be involved in the provision of audit information on request from our customer;
  • Deputise for the Finance Manager;
  • Operate the companys risk framework to identify and manage the required outcome of potential risks and opportunities;
  • Ensure compliance with project and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Proactively support and influence project management;
  • Understand and report on contract risks and opportunities;
  • Prepare monthly contract performance schedules, including profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow together with commentary and analysis;
  • Review and monitor WIP and over-measure balances;
  • Control WIP model and produce month end WIP/Over measure balances;
  • Prepare and report activity analysis;
  • Assist in contract quarterly forecasts, annual budget and input to 3YP;
  • Review and control of contract stock, to safeguard the assets of the contract and ensure adequate controls are in place.

Who we're looking for

Personal Qualities and Experience: 

  • The individual will be a qualified accountant with post qualification experience in a relevant industry;
  • Experience will have been gained within a contracting/projects background. They will require strong influencing and communication skills, being able to communicate with finance and non-finance colleagues;
  • Additionally, advanced excels and being able to summarise detailed information efficiently and accurately;
  • The ability to be independent and objective, whilst maintaining effective relationships, is essential.
