Internal Control Assurance: Control Assurance Analyst

The majority of work may be undertaken remotely, however there will be occasional requirements to travel to the Edinburgh office or other sites.

In a nutshell

The Internal Control Assurance Team (ICAT) provide independent assurance on internal controls to business areas across the Bank and Argos Financial Services (AFS). As a Control Assurance Analyst, you will carry out independent assessments on the effectiveness of the internal control environment and the development and maintenance of the assurance framework.

This role sits within the Operational Risk & Resilience function that provides support to first line business areas on risk and control management.

What you'll be doing
  • Support the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the control assurance framework, test plans and test scripts, assesing Process Risk and Control Assessments (PRCA) and emerging themes/trends/threats.
  • Support ICAT by drafting control sample tests and undertaking control testing in line with the Bank's approach and Quality Assurance standards, ensuring risks are being managed effectively.
  • Prepare and produce accurate test scripts and reporting on findings from assurance reviews.
  • Engage with risk and business stakeholders to support the development of appropriate action plans to address any process / control weaknesses identified through testing.
  • Manage own workload to ensure deadlines are met and critical requests are prioritised.
  • Share knowledge and ideas with ICAT colleagues and the wider Risk team, exchanging information and supporting the identification of best practice.
  • Assist the team in ensuring work is completed accurately and adheres to internal Bank policies, standards, procedures and relevant external regulations and guidance.

What you need to know and show
  • Good understanding of the financial services industry, Retail Banking & Insurance products and Telephony service channel.
  • Good understanding of financial services regulations conduct risk requirements and the elements of a risk management framework.
  • Strong advocacy for delivering fair customer outcomes.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent team player with ability to work closely with others to deliver results.
  • Ability to manage own workload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good written communication via Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
