As a market leader, with significant growth opportunities, we are seeking an experienced JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT.
The Junior Accountant works closely with the Company's Accountant for the effective supervision of all accounting staff with the intent of ensuring that the department's deliverables are met. Strict attention to the internal controls governing the department as established by the Company, as well as generally accepted accounting principles and policies must be maintained on a daily basis. The Junior Accountant must comply with all Company's Policies and Procedures governing the position and reports to the Accountant.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
* Prepares annual budgets inclusive of projected balance sheets, profit and loss account and cash flow
* Prepares budget variance reports and submits findings/variances to the Accountant by approved deadline date
* Provides support to the Company's auditors in the conduct of annual external audits
* Supervises accounting assistants in the overall administration of REL's Workman's Compensation/Insurances in keeping with all statutory requirements
* Ensures that all statutory and mandatory government deductions for Fortnightly and Bi-Monthly (REL) and monthly (RSSL) rated employees are done in keeping with such regulations
* Prepares VAT return (REL) and as/when necessary for ORL and RSSL
* Ensures TD1 and TD4 slips are completed according to statutory requirements
* Works with the Accountant to ensure that accounting staff complete tasks assigned
* Upholds the Company's Policies and Procedures as outlined in its HS&E Management System
Academic qualifications and experience:
* A Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant degree.
* Level II qualifications as determined by Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA) accreditation.
* Minimum of 5 years experience in financial and management accounting.
* Strong analytical skills
* Above average skills in Microsoft Office and particularly Microsoft Excel.

* Well developed interpersonal skills
* Ability to function as an effective team member
* Ability to work unsupervised and effectively under conditions with frequent and multiple interruptions
* Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments
* Attention to detail.
