Finance Assistant / Manchester / 30 hrs per week / 10.99ph / 6 months maternity cover

An opportunity had arisen for an Accounts Assistant within an exciting organisation in Manchester to cover a period of maternity leave.

This will be a varied role, within a small, friendly team and will allow the successful applicant to gain exposure to transnational and management account along with other financial duties unique to an organisation of this nature.


* Ensuring that procedures are followed in respect of the inputting of invoices to the system
* Checking and processing supplier invoices and expense claims for payment
* Ensuring all invoice and expense claims are appropriately coded, and accurately and promptly posted to the accounts system
* Chasing suppliers for invoices
* Filing paper financial records
* Preparing BACs payment runs
* Recording petty cash payments
* Run routine reports to assist the operational teams with programme management
* Assist the month-end financial processes, including Bank reconciliations
* Reconciling supplier statements
* Assisting in the production of monthly management accounts
* Assisting with year-end reporting and audit inspections
* Assisting in the production of donor financial reports
* Assisting with the upkeep of fixed asset register
* Support preparation of papers for the FSC and The Board of Trustees
* Deal with all emails queries and invoice resolutions in a timely manner
* Ensuring that finance regulations and procedures are communicated to the wider team and complied with at all times

Additional administration tasks as and when required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in providing finance and administrative support across a range of programmes in a busy office setting
  • Experience of book keeping and electronic systems
  • Experience of supporting the production of monthly financial accounts
  • Experience of prioritising and organising workload and working to deadlines
  • Experience of providing support to the development and implementation of organisational standards, systems and processes
  • Experience of communicating well with a diverse range of professionals
  • Experience of organising and supporting meetings with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience of supporting procurement processes for the ordering and purchase of project kit and equipment
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
