Job role

Basic salary of up to £40,000 DOE, potential bonus of 10% of annual salary.

28 days Annual Leave (inc. bank holidays) rising to 33 after 12 months

Based in the beautiful Devon countryside you will lead and support our busy Head office payroll team in delivering a first class payroll service to the organisation. This is a fast paced, sometimes challenging but ultimately rewarding role within a rapidly expanding and evolving organisation.

Day to day duties will include:

  • Line management of payroll team including training and development
  • Manage and support weekly, monthly and adhoc payroll transactions
  • Review and implement payroll processes and procedures
  • Provide advice and support to managers and employees within the business
  • Investigate and advise on payroll queries
  • Complete payroll processes in accordance to company deadlines
  • Complete end of year processes


To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively to staff and managers across all levels of the business
  • Strong IT skills including use of payroll systems, iTrent knowledge would be desirable
  • Experience of working in a complex payroll function with a good understanding of payroll processes and procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work across functions and support diverse business areas
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • CIPP qualification is desirable
