The apprentice will be supporting our Accounts Manager with a variety of accounting, finance, administrative and customer service tasks in our busy and growing business.

Typical duties will include:
  • Collate and upload all purchase invoices received into Dext
  • Obtain answers to queries on purchase invoices and purchase payments
  • Obtain answers to queries on receipts into bank via cheque, cash, BACs, or DD
  • Responsible for the DD spreadsheet between Elm, Eagle & LilyIris
  • Communicating all transfers into and out of the main current account, for Probate cases
  • Communicating any information on payments from any other Elm bank accounts that are not to other internal accounts
  • Tracking and loading to Dext all payments from petty cash or via commercial credit card
  • Raising invoices in Xero (probate and general clients)
  • Entering payments received in Xero (probate and general clients)
  • Assist with keeping track of payments/money in from clients, via card, cash, cheque, or BACs
  • Assist preparing cash and cheque payments to be banked
  • Assist with marrying up payments taken by consultants, ensuring products sold have been paid
  • Assist with general admin duties, including data inputting
  • Assist with post room duties
  • Entering payments and associated products for invoices in Xero
  • Assisting with raising invoices and payments with consultants, and commission

Please note that the hourly rate for this role will be National Minimum Wage for Age, so the actual wage may be higher than what's advertised, depending on your age.

The role is advertised at the NMW for an Under 18 (£4.62 p/h).

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Good IT skills - working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages e.g., Word, and Excel
  • Excellent keyboard skills
  • Good communication skills

Desired qualifications

  • GCSEs at grades C/4 or above(or equivalent) in maths and English
  • A-Levels (or equivalent)


Future prospects

If appropriate for both the apprentice and the employer, there will be the opportunity to progress onto the Accounts Level 3 apprenticeship.
