Assistant Payroll Manager
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
Location: Somerset

Main Purpose:

Working as part of the payroll team overseeing SAP related payroll processes. Responsible for all employees receiving timely and accurate payment, whilst ensuring that company policies, legislative, statutory and legal requirements are adhered to.

Core Accountabilities

* Hold regular 1-1 meetings with team members ensuring objectives are set and monitored
* Performance manage the team and hold PDR meetings half yearly and annually
* Identify training needs and train/upskill where required
* Responsible for the testing of HRSPs and BAU functionality changes on SAP and raising any incidents
* Identifying system issues and taking appropriate escalation actions
* Running and providing standard reports as and when required
* Maintenance and implementation of processes and procedures for the department where required
* Overseeing the International Payroll for 19 countries across APAC and EMEA with third party provider, including all third-party payments to tax authorities
* Reconciling any payments made to third parties and applying for refunds where applicable
* Managing Expat payments
* Overseeing the reconciliation and controls of the UK, ROI, Jersey and IOM payrolls ensuring they are ready for final approval
* Approving payments with the bank
* Reporting KPIs and statistics to the Payroll Manager and head of HR Services
* Responsible for the End of Year payroll processes including P11Ds and preparing HMRC documentation where required including EYUs where necessary
* Responsible for the HMRC reconciliation between gateway, FPS and General ledger
* Responsible for the reconciliation of Payroll control accounts and working with Tax and Finance to rectify anomalies
* Undertake regular reviews and audits of the control accounts with Finance
* Work with the Payroll Manager on internal and external payroll audits
* Responsible for the SIP scheme including dividends and the set-up of annual schemes
* Responding to escalated queries about employee pay and tax within SLA timeframes
* Identifying process efficiencies within ways of working and updating processes and procedures
* Support the Payroll Manager in projects that are being undertaken
* General filing and administration

Key Outputs/Results

* Employees are paid accurately according to data provided and given payslips on time
* Tax information is maintained correctly and information is provided to HMRC as necessary including end of year processing
* The General Ledger for the payroll accounts are reconciled on a timely basis
* Anomalies are identified and escalated to the appropriate Manager
* System issues are escalated sufficiently as to not delay payment to employees
* Employee paperwork is filed appropriately
* Queries on employee information are handled with appropriate sensitivity and confidentiality and comply with Data Protection legislation
* Payroll processes are kept up to date and used effectively
