Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Sanctions Manager.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets.
  • Communicate a clear vision that is aligned to the overall HSBC vision, Values and goals, and inspires and engages people to create an inclusive, high performing, customer-centred culture.
  • Lead, develop, and motivate the leadership team
  • Ensure that team leaders and others maximise their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience
  • Lead and encourage constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork
  • Identify and implement improvements to maximise end to end integration, effectiveness and efficiency
  • Maintain a robust and efficient control environment to ensure good operational, financial and project management and compliance with HSBC policy and procedures

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience working in relevant environment/s; e.g. sanctions and Anti Money Laundering (AML)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same
  • A broad understanding of financial budgets/statements/models, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting

Within HSBC certain roles are designated as Enhanced Vetting Roles. We are required by the Financial Services (Banking Reform) Act 2013 to create a ring-fenced bank in the UK by 1 January 2019. Entirely new from the ground up, HSBC UK's head office is opening in Birmingham. The location of this role will move to our new state of the art offices at 2 Arena Central during 2018.
