We are looking for someone who is well organised, a good communicator, and who will be confident in working with and advising the senior management team on all aspects of the company’s current and projected finances.

The successful candidate will have strong all round accounts, book-keeping and payroll experience, AAT qualified or qualified by experience and very comfortable with Excel and Sage.

In return we offer a competitive salary of c.£30,000 - negotiable, depending on experience and skills; a company sick pay scheme and an annual leave allowance of 22 days, rising to 25 days per year.

Finance Manager – Job Specification

Role summary

To advise senior managers on all aspects of the company’s current and projected finances to enable them to successfully run the company in the most cost effective and efficient way. Manage the companies financial systems to ensure accurate invoicing, payment, credit control and cash flow. Maintain and manage all aspects of finance and payroll functions.

Reports to the Managing Director.

No direct line management responsibilities.

Personal Skills

Communications skills (both written and verbal) - Able to communicate effectively and clearly with senior managers on key financial issues for the company. Establish trust and confidence with management colleagues, through an effective grasp of the financial issues, in all communications.

People skills - Able to work both sensitively and assertively with suppliers, clients and other stakeholders to manage and influence Image Factory’s financial reputation.

Analytical skills - Able to quickly interpret and report on financial data, variances, cash flow and financial risks. Demonstrate good commercial awareness to make and assist other managers to make the right choices on expenditure.

Technical skills - Strong all round accounts, book-keeping and payroll experience, AAT qualified or qualified by experience and very comfortable with Excel and Sage. Good all-round IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft office. Good understanding and knowledge of financial controls and reporting. Capable of maintaining accurate paper and electronic records.

Management skills - Able to work on own initiative, proactive in developing and improving financial systems and reporting.

Key responsibililties;

Specific duties are, but are not limited to:

·Financial management

Process and manage accruals and prepayments

Produce trial balance and profit and loss accounts

Production of various financial month end and annual reports as required by the Managing Director and other senior staff

Production of VAT return and timely and accurate payment to HMRC

Management of annual and ad hoc audits

Develop and maintain appropriate financial policies

Develop and adapt processes to meet the changing needs of the company, including euro transactions

Develop post production cost analysis

Support the MD in monitoring, managing and improving company KPIs effectively

·Purchase ledger

Set up new supplier accounts

Process invoices and credit notes, ensuring correct nominal codes are used

Undertake reconciliation of supplier accounts

Reconcile ledger at month end

Prepare and process timely payments to suppliers ensuring DCO’s are kept within company limits

·Sales ledger

Process invoices and credit notes

Credit check new customer accounts and ensure that adequate credit insurance is in place for all customer accounts

Credit control

Production of sales reports at month end and on an ad hoc basis.

Reconcile ledger at month end

Calculate customer rebates

Calculation of sales reps commission to agreed rates

·Cash control

Ensuring that the cash is managed within the company

Undertake appropriate bank reconciliation

Manage transactions through the Trust Account

Production and maintenance of cash flow forecasts


Calculate and process salaries, including associated overtime, company sick pay, statutory payments/deductions and subsequent payment in a timely manner

Ensure the pension scheme adheres to current legislation

Timely and accurate payment of PAYE to HMRC

Submission of all HMRC forms as and when required

Reconciliation and submission of HMRC year end returns

Issue pay increase notices and letters when required

Ensure effective record keeping for HR purposes.
