Financial Controller - £50-55k + car allowance up to £8k per annum + bonus up to 15% of basic salary

To act as support to the Finance Director, helping to drive improvement and implement best practices, and also managing the day-to-day function of the Finance Department for the Company.

  • Overall day-to-day control of all accounting functions, to include: Sales and Purchase Ledgers, invoicing and banking, management accounts, funding and all statutory requirements. To ensure adequate controls over receipts, payments and invoice processing are in place and are adhered to;
  • Carry out regular debtor and creditor reviews, management accounting reviews to ensure accuracy of records and report to management any key issues;
  • Management of the Company cash-flow and proper reporting to Board as required. Control of the Company funds and advice to the board of actions to ensure the Company is adequately funded at all times. To include short and medium term cash-flow forecasting;
  • To ensure that all areas of accounting processes and records are managed appropriately to good corporate governance;
  • To oversee reporting in a timely manner including:
o Monthly Management and statutory audited accounts;

o Trend analysis;

o Monthly P&L’s comparison to budgets;

o Monthly balance sheets;

o Monthly cash analysis;

o Balance sheet reconciliations

  • To assist and oversee in funding management including:
o Facility renewals;

o Headroom management;

o Rates;

o New Business.

  • To control the production of key business indicator reports and ensure that reports are designed and implemented with Finance Director and IT support;
  • To co-ordinate and produce the budgets and forecasts. To ensure compliance with all financial statutory requirements;
  • To manage relationships with and provide information required (monthly and annually) to the following bodies: HMRC (VAT, PAYE), National Statistics and the company auditors;
  • To assist Directors in managing ad hoc projects, new contract assignments and share holder investments;
  • To keep abreast of improvements and techniques and advise Company of industry specific accounting issues;
  • To provide support and technical advice as and when necessary to both internal and external parties and to support new business development and account management initiatives;
  • To administer profit share calculations and provide information for tenders etc.
Personal Specification
  • Extensive experience of computer accounting systems; from basic use to advanced control of parameters within systems.
  • In depth experience of preparation of management accounts to review level with ‘Analysis Manager ‘experience
  • Relevant experience with set up and management of banking and/or funding facilities
  • A good knowledge of asset accounting and capital allowances
  • To have a strong commercial acumen to ensure business focus
  • Able to interpret complex data accurately
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to extract, manipulate, analyse data. Identifying issues and presenting potential solutions.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office specifically Excel to formula etc levels
