HEAD OF INTERNAL AUDIT
Company: Small International Bank, Tier 3 Seniority: Head Salary: £75,000 Engagement: Full Time, Permanent Location: Central London Start: ASAP, Ideally July 2021
THE ROLE
The position is a high profile role that is expected to add value to the firm making reasonable and constructive recommendations for improvements.
The purpose of this role is to provide reliable, valued assurance to the Board and Executive Management over the effectiveness of controls mitigating current and evolving high / medium risks and in so doing enhancing the controls culture within the organisation.
The Head of Internal Audit will be responsible for carrying out independent reviews and reporting on adequacy of internal controls. They are also required to develop and update risked-based audit programmes, develop and execute an annual risk-based auditplan, and also to ensure that management take action to rectify audit findings.In addition, they are accountable for the recording and investigation of, fraud, forgery and other irregularities. They will handles issues relating to operational lapses, auditors and regulatory enquiries regarding control and mandate issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparation of a comprehensive annual audit plan / programme using a risk-based methodology Coordination and/or conduct audit reviews Identifying the activities and controls that mitigate these risks Identifying opportunities for achieving efficiencies, economies or improvements in management effectiveness Follow up recommendations, ensuring agreed actions are carried out in accordance with agreed timescales and performing follow up audits as appropriate Play a consultative and advisory role in the Bank's projects to ensure controls are effectively put in place and procedures and processes of the Bank are appropriate
PERSONAL PROFILE
You will be a qualified auditor with significant internal audit and control experience and strong technical skills gained within a Banking role Current or previous SMF5 approval Banking Internal Audit experience is essential A Qualified Chartered accountant (ACCA), CIA, CMIIA or CISA qualification is a must have Experience in writing reports of audit reviews that identify risks / issues and suggest improvements coupled with escalation of risks / issues within the team Excellent understanding of UK corporate governance requirements as well as legal and regulatory framework, with particular regard to financial services Strong understanding of banking and business risks
