Job role
Business analyst, CFO
Senior Business Analyst

Your role is at the core of everything BMT does. You will help us craft technically creative and significant web applications for customers around the world, developing your skills and career in a supportive environment.

Are you looking to apply your business analysis knowledge to new and varied challenges? If so, this role may be for you.

What's the role?

As part of our ambitious growth plans, new and exciting roles are being created within our expanding Information Systems team. You will join an energetic multi-disciplinary team, delivering bespoke services using web technologies in the space, defence and security sectors. You will collaborate with UX designers, software developers, test specialists, data scientists and other technology subject matter experts, sharing your skills, knowledge and learning to deliver solutions that allow our clients to make important decisions.

We are now looking for a Senior Business Analyst with practical experience of applying analysis and user research best practices to really understand the problems faced by customers, and taking a lead in the design of elegant solutions to those problems.

The role can be based out of any of UK office locations - Bath, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Weymouth or London - and we offer flexible and remote working to give our staff choice and adaptability. Travel to customer sites or to attend certain meetings may be required.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a business analyst who is excited by the opportunity to work closely with our development teams and customers on a wide range of products and services. If you have experience in user research and defining requirements for digital, data or technology-based projects, we will welcome your application.

We really value your ability to present and articulate insights clearly, communicating sometimes complex requirements or concepts to customers and colleagues. Your role is vital in helping our clients understand and successfully prioritise the needs of their users, identifying the risks of change and collaboratively creating solutions to manage that change. While practical experience of GDS would be great, the ability to quickly understand and apply it is more important to us.

We are excited to work with you because you are an enthusiastic and inquisitive communicator, collaborator and implementer. As a senior Business Analyst, you will need to actively maintain knowledge of your specialist area, advising on the skills, tools and methodologies required to develop our business. While it is important to us that our developers speak directly with our clients, you will take a lead in stakeholder engagement, working closely with customers and Product Owners to deliver their vision and to build a future relationship. You can expect to work as part of a development team on projects ranging from app development to advising on the design of future platforms, and cross into areas as d iverse as Mixed-Reality immersive training, AI and Machine Learning, Big Data and Cyber security.

The successful candidates will need to hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK Government security clearance at SC level.

What can we offer you?

We believe in hiring the best talent, from diverse backgrounds, as this introduces new ideas to the team and our customers. This role will be part of the wider Information Systems team which is growing fast and works across different space, defence and security markets.

We ensure that our people have access to the training and mentoring they need to be the best at what they do. We constantly strive to improve our working environment and provide everyone with the tools and applications they need to do their roles effectively. You will have the chance to work and play with the latest software technologies, and we will support your professional development with licences and subscriptions. We also value professional qualifications and registration with professional institutions, and can provide the training and support needed to achieve these if not already held.

The wellbeing of the team is central to our success, so workloads are managed effectively and we promote agile working so our hours are flexible. On top of this we have a host of benefits and family friendly policies designed to support our people.
