The French Coverage team within Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division, based in Paris, covers a broad array of publicly listed and private companies in France across industries. The team is consistently a leader in French M&A and capital markets products. MS Paris advises clients on a wide range of complex transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, corporate restructurings, leveraged buyouts and defence assignments as well as executions of equity and debt capital markets transactions. The team comprises over 50 professionals.

As an Associate in the French Investment Banking team, you will work with Officers and Senior Bankers on a variety of execution and business development assignments while interacting directly with senior-level financial and strategic decision-makers in some of the France’s largest and most sophisticated corporations. Professionals in the French team are located in Paris and work closely with other IBD groups and Global Capital Markets colleagues in Europe. The ideal candidate will have prior investment banking experience, and in particular country specific coverage experience including providing advice on local takeover regulation.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and assisting in the execution of corporate finance transactions (including M&A, and strategic advisory, but also IPOs or capital raise transactions).
  • Overlooking the performance financial analysis, strategic business analysis and detailed industry research, coordinating client interactions.
  • Contributing to team discussions and client meetings.
  • Providing rapid and accurate market judgments to colleagues and clients.
  • Preparing and delivering client presentations in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Acting as a mentor and role model to Analysts; promoting team culture.
  • Working closely with experienced bankers on the team and across other groups.

Skills required

  • Previous experience within M&A is important and should ideally include country specific coverage, and experience in dealing with local market regulations.
  • A strong academic background having obtained a top class degree(s) from a leading university in a financially focused subject.
  • Client skills are essential at the Associatelevel, including clear communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, as well as knowledge of basic accounting and financial concepts; ability to analyse and value businesses.
  • A positive, highly motivated individual who exhibits strong leadership and management qualities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English is important.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and against tight deadlines.
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas and summarise effectively.
  • Commitment to excellence and maintaining high professional and ethical standards.
  • Strong understanding of professional ethics and the regulatory environment.
  • Proactive; self-motivated and goal oriented.
