The EY Tax Business Technology team enables high quality service delivery by EY’s Sub Service Lines, Areas and Regions through the strategic use of technology in coordination with the related functions of knowledge, quality, learning and service development. The services produced will coordinate with go-to-market programs and client service delivery at an area and global level. The EMEIA Tax Business Technology Manager will be central to enabling the technology to support these services.
The opportunity
This position is part of the Global Tax Business Technology team working on a variety of initiatives and IT product/project portfolios across our EMEIA Regions and Sub Service Lines. The role will also be required to support client engagements at a strategic level. Initiatives are focused on delivering technology solutions to meet the needs of practitioners within and across each Sub Service Line.
The specific relationships, portfolios, products and projects assigned will be based on the experience of the individual as well as the needs of the team and may entail new development or support activities. The role will also involve managing key relationships in the EMEIA Tax business up to Partner level through to key business stakeholders involved with business and technology at Regional level and will include helping Regions manage their technolgy products and projects portfolio effectively.
The role also facilitates governance of technology across the EMEIA Tax working with the EY Technology organisation and the EMEIA Tax Chief Digital Officer.
Your key responsibilities
Develops and maintains strong working relationships with business technology and IT project stakeholders to understand their business objectives and practices, and to achieve effective coordination in the delivery and deployment of technology services. Acts as the go-to contact from a business technology perspective.
Drives the design, development, deployment and strategic positioning of technology solutions being used to meet business requirements.
Acquire and demonstrate an understanding of business requirements from business leaders and translates these across to IT teams
Manage pipeline of upcoming business activity for IT Service Delivery, and relevant budgets
Support engagement and pursuit teams with client discussions and interaction around strategic positioning and deployment of technology
The role could also typically involve: ensuring effective working relationships with new and existing vendors; overseeing communications and changement management to drive product adoption; agreeing product technology and resource budgets; ensuring measurement and tracking of success criteria is in place; and, facilitating technology governance including alignment to policy and standards.
In some cases the role may incorporate responsibility for specific products. For example, product managing and influencing the direction, content, maintenance and support of the product roadmap that guides development and implementation decisions throughout the product lifecycle. These responsibilities will be balanced with relationship/portfolio responsibilities.
Skills and attributes for success
- Extensive experience in understanding and translating business needs into technical requirements allied with demonstrable experience of having worked in a tax technology role including product and/or portfolio management experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and application of process redesign, extensive experience in the creation of roadmaps.
- Demonstrable experience of managing senior stakeholders and their expectations
- Understanding of working in a Global (multi-country) or complex environment, preferably within professional services and therefore able to work flexibly across multiple timezones, be able to effectively communicate with people from different countries, cultures and different stages of technology maturity.
- Good working knowledge of knowledge of technologies in the marketplace specifically in relation to tax and accounting solutions inlcuding an understanding of the technology infrastructure but required support them.
To qualify for the role you must have
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Project and change management skills and experience
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in delivering Tax Technology projects
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Tax, Law or Accountancy Qualified
- Ability to speak multiple languages
- Understanding of global tax business and the clients served in a Big Four or similar environment
