We are a well-established accounting firm and part of an integrated financial services business, based in Mulgrave. We service predominantly small to medium-sized enterprises and individuals. We are seeking a full-time, experienced accountant with a strong work ethic to join our team. You will need to perform the following duties:
  • Using applications of computer-based accounting systems such as XERO, MYOB and Excel for data entry activities, including accruals, prepayments, deferred revenues and costs
  • Preparing financial statements and reports including balance sheet, profit and loss, asset, liability, capital account entries and internal management by compiling and analysing account information
  • Providing assists in formulating budgetary and accounting policies and maintaining accounting controls via policies and procedures
  • Making financial research and investigations, preparing reports and audits, making advice on cases including business purchase and sale, business merge, business capital finance and taxation
  • Providing accounting and financial advice on business structures, plans and operations
  • Preparing taxation returns, Payroll Tax and BAS, annual FBT and taxable payment reporting to the ATO, and special purpose financial reports for individuals, companies and other organisations
  • Ensuring all internal and external reporting is provided in a timely and accurate manner, including the completion of the annual report and statement
  • Providing services related to financial reporting, auditing, bankruptcy and accounting information systems in compliance with regulations
  • Assist in ad-hoc accounting projects such as audits, budgets and forecasts
  • Reconciling financial discrepancies and examining operating costs and organisations' income and expenditure
  • Examining and assuring the information in financial reports
  • Strengthening compliance with existing and new statutory requirements, laws, complying with federal, state, and local financial law requirements, and advising management on actions to be taken
  • Completing database backups and securing financial information, and maintaining financial security through internal control
  • Perform other required tasks


The essential requirement for this position:
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role with at least a relevant bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance)
  • Self-motivated and highly organised
  • Possess an excellent level of both verbal and written communication skills and ability to build and maintain good customer relationship
  • Excellent customer service and phone etiquette.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
