Traineeship Description:

This position reports to the Group Procurement Services Risk Manager and requires engagement with key stakeholders within and outside the department. T&O GPS Risk Management team governs procurement end-to-end lifecycle within the DBS Group to ensure compliance to our bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect/Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports for procurement transactions surveillance
  • Build, maintain and enhance data model to analyze, interpret, derive insights and identify outlying patterns and trends in complex data sets
  • Notify procurement users on outlier transactions for clarification or remediation
  • Build and maintain a surveillance case management tool (using Microsoft Sharepoint / Forms / PowerApps) to manage/track outlier transactions
  • Develop and implement data collection / generation systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Filter and "clean" data by reviewing reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate, highlight and correct system problems/limitations
  • Work with management and supporting units to prioritize risk, business and information analytical needs
  • Locate opportunities to automate controls, reporting, and define new process improvement in on-going efforts to remove employee toil and improve operational controls


Requirements:

The ideal candidates will have the following skills:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Science (preferably Mathematics / Statistics) or Economics with 2 years' related experience
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (Python, R, Javascript or XML)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, Access, SAS, etc)
  • An analytical mind and inclination for problem-solving
  • Self-starter with a change/flexible mindset and willing to take up new/adhoc tasks
  • Good collaboration and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail

Competencies:
  • [Risk & Control] Applying and appreciating operational risk management concepts to the procurement lifecycle
  • [Data Analytics] Utilise analytics tools (Python & PowerBI/Tableau) to perform surveillance on procurement data for outliers / anomalies. Provide visualisations (dashboards/topsheets) for management reporting.
  • [Process Automation] Use Design Thinking to develop workflows (using Sharepoint) to automate current processes & facilitate industralisation of surveillance analytics & case management.
  • [Controls Automation] Use analytics tools or other methods to automate and reduce manual controls and verification.

Education Qualification: Degree & above

Duration of Traineeship / Attachment offered: 6 months

Training Allowance: $2500
