BUSINESS ANALYST, PULP AND PAPER DIVISOIN

The Opportunity:

J.D. Irving, Limited - Pulp and Paper Division is seeking an analytical and data expert to contribute to the build of the division's analytical reporting platform in Tableau / Alteryx / SQL Databases, as well as work closely in the integration between our various platforms and data sources, based in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The candidate will work with business users and IT to design, implement and analyze new reports hosted on Tableau Server/Omnivex Moxie Player and other programs. The candidate will also work with data owners/stakeholders to understand source data (time series data, flat files, relational databases and data warehouses) and integrate data into Tableau /Alteryx/ SQL Databases in a format that serves reporting requirements. The candidate will participate in the development of policies and guidelines for data governance as well as use of the team's best practices and standards. There is also the potential for future development in Predictive Analytics, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Creative thinker that knows how to transform data into visual displays that are meaningful to the business

• Shows curiosity when dealing with datasets and problems

• Knowledge of statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.

• Easily able to visualize, document, and work through integrations between various technologies, datasets, etc.

• Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills

• Must be able to work alongside other analytical experts as well as meet with senior level managers to determine requirements for intuitive, creative, analytical solutions.

• Data driven decision-making and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to think strategically about the information that will help stakeholders make data-driven business decisions and to communicate the value of this information effectively.

You Have:

• A degree or diploma in Business Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration.

• The successful candidate must be highly organized, pays close attention to detail, is results driven, is flexible and is an overall a problem solver.

• The candidate must be a critical, creative thinker.

• The candidate must have at least two years experience in Data Analytics

• Some experience with relational databases.

• Experience with SQL, R or Python an asset.

• Good understanding of conceptual, logical, physical data modeling concepts.

• Experience in performing data and system analysis to determine the most effective solution to meet business needs.

• Ability to self-manage timelines and deliverables, work in a team environment and manage projects simultaneously

• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

• Knowledge of Cognos, Microsoft Power BI would be considered an asset.

• Strong analytical skills

• A driven self-starter who is flexible and adaptable to changes in assignments and priorities
