The Thomson Reuters Foundation is currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join the Finance team. The role will report to the Financial Controller of the Thomson Reuters Foundation working closing with all members of the Finance Team in TRF, Programme Teams and the Business Development Team.

The Financial Accountant will have responsibility for aspects of the Foundation's financial governance including: statutory reporting; financial accounting for the Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) Group in UK and TRF Inc in the US; monthly management reporting; Board reporting; and audits (including donor audits as appropriate).

The Financial Accountant will support the Financial Controller in ensuring that the Foundation is compliant with all statutory reporting requirements (SORP and IFRS), Charity Commission Requirements including making sure appropriate financial policies are in place.

About the Role

As our Financial Accountant, you will:
  • Be responsible for the preparation of the Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) Group and TRF INC (US Entity) statutory accounts including preparation of the Charity Commission and Companies House Annual Returns.
  • Support on Grant Audits the FC and FBP as appropriate.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, working closely with the Financial Controller
  • Respond to and resolve where necessary financial inquiries by gathering, analysing, summarising, and interpreting data as appropriate
  • Responsible for ensuring monthly balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis are completed with the Financial Analysts and TR Outsourced general accounting teams
  • Assist the Financial Controller in the TRF Reforecast process.
  • Review the quarterly VAT reporting working with external outsourced provider and Financial Analyst ensuring correctness
  • Update Financial policies working closing with the Financial Controller as appropriate
  • Support the Financial Controller and Finance manager in automating the organisations systems and process changes working closely with TR transformation team.
  • Work with the CFO on ad hoc projects as required.

About You

To be our Financial Accountant, you will likely have:
  • Qualified (or part-qualified) Accountant (ideally ACA/ACCA)
  • Experience in producing Statutory Accounts (preferably for a Charity) and leading on all aspects of audit in a complex organization
  • Experience in management reporting, reforecasting, and donor reporting.
  • Knowledge of financial policies, reporting standards, controls, and compliance
  • Experience with SAP / BEX preferred and capable of working with different system
