About the role...

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Senior Management Accountant Manager, for a 6 month maternity contract to support our Mainland Europe Finance Team. Whilst it is a Fixed Term Contract role - the team has expanded considerably, and the business has experienced continued success in the pandemic. A lot can happen in 6 months!

We are looking for a Senior Management Accountant Manager, working closely with the Finance Manager on supporting the management reporting for France. Main tasks will be ownership and production of surgery P&Ls and balance sheet reconciliations to agreed timelines and quality. Supporting with the year-end audit and tax reporting and liaison with our audit and tax partners.

Key responsibilities:
  • Delivering all existing business Balance Sheets to deadline each month, reconciled to the standard required, and for accounts owned by the MA team nothing outstanding >30 days unless agreed with the Finance Manager and Deputy FD
  • Ensuring complete, accurate and timely existing business P&Ls are delivered to deadline by the MA team each month for every clinic and for Head Office, to the Finance Manager
  • Providing clear and actionable P&L explanation and commentary to the surgery business support managers each month
  • Ensuring complete and accurate Takings Reconciliations are delivered for existing business to deadline by the MA team each month for every clinic, to the Finance Manager
  • Ensuring the Payroll Flash report is complete and accurate and reviewed by the Finance Manager and Deputy FD by the agreed deadline
  • Line management of a small team, reviewing their work as well as providing line management support and guidance
  • Working with the team to ensure current processes are efficient and fit for purpose, and to help identify areas for efficiency gains to support the next phase of growth
  • Managing the audit and tax requirements and supporting the Finance Manager and Deputy FD and in-country team to meet our statutory deadlines
  • Ensuring the intercompany process is completed to deadline each month and the GL, PL & SL accounts net to zero before the close on WD10
  • Ensuring all Finance and Operating Leases (liabilities and assets) have been accurately reflected in the accounts every month, and all necessary documentation is on file for year end and audit
  • Ensuring dormant companies are non-moving and correct each month and for year end and audit
  • Approving invoices and supplier set ups up to their delegation of authority as required and as per the agreed SLA.
  • All deliverables delivered to deadline.
  • Deputising for the Finance Manager as required
  • Being proactive in issue identification and resolution, including identification of profit opportunities and accruals
  • Any other tasks as required.


What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is strong academically and educated to degree level and fully qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA level or equivalent. The successful candidate will be well experienced in management accounting roles in similar sized organisations, with several years' post-qualification, with evidence of CPD. You will have strong technical accounting experience with sufficient commercial experience.

The successful candidate will have previous line management experience, an thrives in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment but flexibility is key. You will have strong attention to detail skills, and able to deliver right-first-time results quickly. Deadline focussed, and willing to put in the effort required to ensure deadlines are always met. You will be comfortable working within a clinical environment where compassion is a requirement and have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within the team, and communicate effectively but sympathetically with the surgeries. We need someone with excellent IT skills including advanced excel, and confident on various management reporting systems, experience of Open Accounts would be an advantage but not essential. You will have experience in supporting and managing the audit and tax requirements for a European country. Flexibility as some travel may be required.
