DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Global Markets Ops Productivity & Innovation group is a global function that provides senior management with business intelligence on productivity & performance, risk analysis, risk remediation, process improvement & process re-engineering (as well as many other associated disciplines).
Within the productivity & innovation group a new function is being formed off the back of increased focus on operational risk & control generally. The function will be called 'Operational Risk & Resiliency' and this position is intended as a business analyst within this new area supporting the head of the function.

The Business Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within strategies
  • Identifies and compiles data sets using a variety of tools (e.g. SQL, Access) to help predict, improve, and measure the success of key business to business outcomes
  • Responsible for documenting data requirements, data collection / processing / cleaning, and exploratory data analysis; which may include utilizing statistical models / algorithms and data visualization techniques
  • Incumbents in this role may often be referred to as Data Scientists
  • Specialization in marketing, risk, digital and AML fields possible
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

  • Advanced analytic ability and problem solving skills to proactively address business questions with innovative data driven solutions
  • Ability to build partnerships with cross-functional teams in order
  • Working experience in a quantitative field, Financial/Credit Card industry

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be organized, detail oriented, flexible and adaptive to matrix work environment


Education:
  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities:
  • Incumbents work with large and complex data sets (both internal and external data) to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyse and assess all facets of each program task(s) assigned to the group. This will likely include spreadsheet crunching, document reading, artefact creation & administration
  • Owns all analysis and management information needs for each program task as needed.
  • Prepares, maintains, and submits clear and concise activity/progress reports as required.
  • Applies a proactive approach in routinely tracking project participant progress against program goals.
  • Uses best practice PMO methodology to create a project plan to fit the stakeholders/customers' needs and deliver within budget on desired outcomes.
  • Assesses risk potentials and discover potential problems before they occur; escalating risks to progress in a timely manner
  • Defines, teaches, and enforces the use of good project management practices such as techniques in resolving complex, interdependent activities into tasks and sub-tasks that are documented, monitored and controlled.
  • Articulates problems, bring the right people together to solve problems and know when the problem has been properly addressed and closed.
  • Communicates to all concerned parties project milestones, status updates, as well as any existing or potential customer escalation issues.
  • Promotes good working relationships, cultivating the people skills needed to develop trust and communication among all stakeholders, sponsors and end clients.
  • Documents business requirements and supports the documentation of technical requirements
  • Drafts test scripts and facilitates User Acceptance Testing

Candidate requirements:

Operational Risk & Resiliency is looking for an experienced and technically proficient business analyst whom can apply themselves to a wide range of technical tasks and multiple projects at any one time.

Candidate will need to bring a willingness to learn a broad spectrum of product knowledge, professional skills as well as garner a 'roll up your sleeves attitude' to ensure team deliverables. High end project management governance to track all projects globally is required. Provision of status updates to Senior Management a continuous requisite. An appreciation of operational risk & general risk principal's key.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Five years+ experience in Financial Services Operations, Technology, business analysis, program or project management roles

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Quick learner with excellent attention to detail
  • Project Management experience & comprehension of all phases within typical project lifecycle (SCRUM,6 SIGMA knowledge very applicable)
  • Experience of Current state ('As-Is') analysis, 'To-be' and Gap analysis is advantageous
  • Ability to map business processes utilizing Visio
  • Ability to facilitate global calls; capturing key decisions and actions, managing various stakeholders at all levels of seniority
  • Proactive in following up on agreed actions and raising risks to progress
  • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities, sticking to agreed deadlines
  • Quickly grasp and master new requirements and related knowledge
  • Willingness to ask questions, challenge the process and seek out answers
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and take ownership of projects and change initiatives
  • Strong team player with the ability to work as part of a global team & build consensus
  • Logical thinker with strong analytical skills including the ability to conceptualise creative solutions.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications: MS Project, VISIO, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access
  • Experience with any of the following business intelligence tools advantageous: Business Objects, Micro Strategy, Qliqview, Tableux. Celonis
  • Financial product knowledge is advantageous
  • Stays abreast of current industry trends and new technology through professional associations, trade journals, networking, and associated training and seminars.
