My client based in Wolverhampton is looking for qualified VAT accountant to join there team. The role will be initially on a fixed term basis with the role poteniol becomeing prmanet. The role is 37.5 hours based on 5 dfays and will be a work from home role intially with it transtiontioning to a hybrid model as governmemnt guidance changes. The business are a market leader in the field and have sebveral sites in the uk with there wolverhampton office being there head office.
Duties to include -
Ensure accurate and timely preparation, completion and filing of quarterly VAT returns and all compliance work such as Partial exemption calculation, Intrastat, voluntary disclosures where applicable and any other ad hoc returns.
Analyze VAT Group set up to identify where optimizations can be made and manage administration of the Group with HMRC.
Involvement and initiation of projects on process/system efficiencies.
Liaise with AP/AR/ to review individual transactions and make any necessary corrections.
Assist with the preparation of VAT reconciliations for the auditors.
Manage errors and exceptions to minimize the impact on financial results and avoid non-compliance penalties with the Tax Authorities.
Assist the Tax Manager with any VAT audits/Queries in a professional, timely and efficient manner.
Assist the Tax Manager in ensuring that all relevant VAT changes are considered in terms of system impact and that the information is communicated and documented appropriately.
Assist the Tax Manager and in documenting the VAT process and communicating to the wider finance team as necessary.
Keep up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues.
Opportunity to work with the Group Tax Function on global VAT projects.
Person Spec -
Either ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or CIOT/CTA qualified/part qualified.
UK VAT legislation and reporting requirements
1 years' experience in a similar reporting role.
Advanced Excel skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Highly organised.
Detail oriented, strong research and analytical skills
Ability to work independently, to work under pressure and balance multiple projects and priorities.
Able to work to strict deadlines.
