Financial Accountant

This role is for a minimum of 12 month to cover maternity leave and will best suit someone from an accountancy practice of professional services background.

This Client a a vibrant and welcoming professional services business within Hertfordshire that are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join their established team for a minimum of 12 months.

Description

• Managing the Firm's Annual Firm Returns - ICAEW, ACCA, etc. including 'Fit and Proper' forms, etc. under guidance from FC
• Facilitating QAD and similar Institute (ICAEW and ACCA)
• Overseeing training matters and working with other departments to ensure training program, training records, declarations, etc are all in order
• Manage Annual Cold File Review exercise
• Ensure Engagement letters and related queries are dealt with input from others as required
• Managing the firm's practice assurance controls; ensuring client bank accounts are reconciled and records maintained in with ICAEW guidelines.
• Ensure clients are designated to the correct client type and assist with the annual reporting requirements for the ICAEW and ACCA;
• Ensure the firm is compliant with GDPR issues and related queries
• Assist with Money Laundering compliance and related queries
• Dealing with the Fee Protection Scheme, including liaison with insurance providers and clients regarding their queries and ensuring fees are raised and queries dealt with promptly
• Ensure the ledgers are regularly reconciled with the tax scheme provider and that CCH has been updated
• Ensure all FPS postings are correct and reconcile when necessary
• Annual PII renewal and dealing with claims and queries throughout the year
• Annual office insurance renewals - Cyber and Office - and dealing with any claims and queries throughout the year
• Assist with managing the Firmwide Risk matters
• Assist with monthly management accounts analysis (see below) and provide back up to the Financial Controller as required
• Reporting on Monthly Team / Partner Financial Metrics and working with Team Leaders/Managers to address any issues. Such reporting to cover: Recoverability and Profitability - Lock up - debt and WIP - Time and WIP loading / extrapolated forecasts with gap analysis to targets - Partner Balanced Scorecard Dashboard
• Responsibility for International Accounting (VAT, Tax returns, etc)

Profile

• Fully qualified Financial Accountant
• From a practice or professional services background
• Strong knowledge of ICAEW and ACCA regulations and compliance
• GDPR compliance experience
• Ideally experience with Xero or similar
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to hit the ground running
