Client Details

Due to continuous growth and expansion we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced U.S. Corporate Tax Assistant Manager to provide U.S. corporate tax advisory and compliance services to entrepreneurs, start-up, scale up and mid-cap companies. The businesses of the client base include music and entertainment, publishing, hedge fund managers, online services and retail, media, manufacturing, real estate investment and development.

Description

The U.S. Corporate Tax Assistant Manager duties will include:

  • Taking ownership for financial management of the portfolio, WIP management, billing targets and cash collection
  • Review tax returns for partnerships, corporations and trusts
  • Participate in developing and pursuing new clients including preparing for and attending meetings and drafting follow up correspondence
  • Some involvement in marketing events and business development to achieve the business goals for the firm including building an effective business network and developing a strong personal brand internally and where possible externally
  • Supervise junior staff on gathering information for completion of U.S. tax returns
  • Document and communicate workflow status to Manager on a regular basis
  • Ensure all jobs are completed within specific budgets, keeping Manager informed at all times of progress of job
  • Ensure WIP levels are kept within set budgets and advise Manager of potential budget over runs
  • Ensure productivity level meets or exceeds budget expectation
  • Draft Bills for clients and submit to Manager for approval
  • Keep abreast of developments in accounting, taxation and relevant computer software
  • Assist junior staff in developing their understanding of the various software packages, tax laws and statutory requirements
  • Supervising junior members of staff with an active role to maximise their performance and during the annual staff appraisal process

Profile

Ideally you will be EA qualified or equivalent. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills. You all also have/be:
  • At least 5 years' experience with U.S Corporate/partnership compliance in a similar sized practice
  • Must have experience of researching and writing memoranda, letters or other communications on all aspects of U.S. tax as it relates to businesses including taxation of U.S. companies, foreign companies including controlled foreign company rules, PFICs, partnerships, doing business in the U.S, investing in U.S. entities, etc
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter
  • Experience working with U.S. tax rules relating to controlled foreign companies, passive foreign investment companies, FIRPTA, and partnership taxation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills between clients, staff and management
  • Organised and with a high level of time management skills and solid attention to detail
  • The ability to work with prestigious clients who require complete confidentiality
  • Knowledge and experience with trusts advantageous but not essential
  • Ideally proficient in CCH, Caseware, Xero and Microsoft Office, (Excel essential)
  • Knowledge of Prosystem (desirable but not essential)
