MANAGER, TREASURY ACCOUNTING

Why apply for this role?The purpose of this role is to is to draw upon specialist knowledge to develop and deliver the Bank's business objectives. With guidance from the Senior Manager, you'll contribute to the development of policy and controls within a changing business environment as well as directly performing and overseeing the work of the department. You'll manage a small team with responsibility for a specific business unit and/or part of the department's reporting and control activities, as well as having additional cross department responsibilities for elements of the reporting and reconciliation work of the department performed across all areas. While reporting directly to one Senior Manager you will be expected to contribute widely to the duties of the team and to rotate between functions.What you'll be doingPreparing all IAS 39 hedging documentation, and performing all necessary reconciliations and balance sheet substantiation for balances relating to hedging accountingPreparing all necessary analysis to ensure the IAS 39 hedge accounting is complete and accurateAnalysing viability of proposed hedging strategies from an IAS 39 perspective and provide proper guidance/advice to Front Office and other departmentsProducing the hedge analysis and disclosures required by Group Finance and Santander Madrid Finance in monthly hedge disclosuresEnsuring a full audit trail for all accounting and reconciliation processes, and ensuring that the control infrastructure around the reconciliation process is robustFlagging and investigating any problems or unusual items in hedged packagesWhat we're looking forStrong technical accounting (hedge accounting knowledge) especially IAS39, IFRS 9 and IFRS 7Extensive Treasury product knowledge with a strong emphasis on derivative valuation knowledge including an understanding of the drivers of changes in valuationQualified accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMAPrevious experience in hedge accounting / Treasury Finance / Product control team, or strong technical financial institution / instrument experience PQE from practice is desirableExcellent attention to detail, and the ability to work accurately under pressure, often to very tight timescalesExcellent MS Excel skills and communication skillsWhat else you need to knowGiven the recent impact of the Coronavirus outbreak we will be conducting all interviews via telephone or video-conference where possible.This role will be based at Triton Square.How we'll reward youAs well as a competitive salary, you'll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs.Pension with generous contributions of up to 12.5% from Santander, depending on your own contribution and length of employment with us30 days holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year£6,000 car allowance per yearCompany funded individual private medical insuranceVoluntary healthcare benefits at discounted rates such as private medical insurance for your family, dental insurance, healthcare cash plan and health assessmentsBenefits supporting you and your family, such as death-in-service benefit, income protection, and voluntary life assurance and critical illness coverShare in Santander's success by investing in our Sharesave and Partnership shares plansFor more information about our wide range of benefits and family friendly policies visit our website.Why Santander?At Santander, with only a small action or a simple idea, you can achieve great things.
