Internal audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organisation's operations.

Previous experience in Internal Audit is not essential, relevant training will be offered to the successful candidate. Candidates who can demonstrate skills and experience as outline below are encouraged to apply.
In this role you will undertake and/or assist in the execution of Internal Audits, support the activities of the Audit and Assurance Committee and manage the relationship with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO).

The key duties of the position include:

Our ideal candidate will have:
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • excellent stakeholder management skills and a demonstrated ability to engage with people from across the department
  • excellent organisational skills combined with the ability to prioritise, manage multiple competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and meet deadlines.
Experience in undertaking audit and assurance activities would be ideal however the candidate will be provided training for the position.

The successful candidate will:
  • have professional and business experience with a strong understanding and commitment to auditing and continuous improvement
  • have initiative, strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to think conceptually as well as creatively
  • undertake the delivery of audit and assurance activities including planning and resource allocation, fieldwork and reporting phases of an audit
  • manage key stakeholder relationships and have internal and external stakeholder management experience with the ability to leverage relationships to achieve outcomes and resolve complex issues
  • provide expert or real time advice and recommendations on a range of complex issues, and discuss these findings and recommendations with stakeholders.


Eligibility

Please note, under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency delegate has agreed, in writing.

This is a designated security assessed position. The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.

This selection process may be used to establish a merit pool. The pool might be accessed to fill ongoing for similar roles in the Department over the next 12 months.
