The Opportunity

The Division is looking for 2 motivated Accountants to fulfil the role of Revenue Accountant, as part of a culture that values excellence, collaboration, integrity and service. The new revenue accounting standards present a major change in revenue accounting for universities, related systems and processes.

Reporting to the Manager, Business Processes and Data Analytics, and closely working with the Senior Revenues & Projects Accountant, Corporate Finance Division, this position will work in collaboration to provide technical accounting services relating to revenue recognition including, assessing revenue contracts to determine the correct accounting treatment, tracking performance obligation satisfaction and processing relevant revenue accounting adjustments. The incumbent will be a technical expert in understanding and applying the new revenue related Accounting Standards for the University, and as such trusted sources of expert advice in relation to both research and non-research revenue recognition, and an agent for process improvement to comply with new accounting standards.

The ideal incumbent will possess a degree in finance/accounting or another relevant discipline, preferably with CPA or CA status along with subsequent relevant experience. The Revenue Accountant should have a keen interest in assessing contracts under the new revenue accounting standards and be motivated to meet new people to consistently grow their knowledge of the University operations. Highly technical accounting knowledge, a desire to implement system and process improvements, highly developed computer literacy skills (eg: Advanced Excel and Power BI), ideally with experience in SAP or other large Enterprise Resource Planning systems will be valuable to this role.
