PAYROLL SUPERVISOR
Main Purpose
Pays employees by compiling and processing payroll information; maintaining records.
Qualification and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field;
* Prior Payroll experience in a supervisory capacity;
* Extensive working knowledge of payroll and financial information systems;
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
* Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, mentor, team building, and support staff;
* Excellent interpersonal, customer service, public relations, organizational, multitasking, work prioritization,
research and problem solving skills with minimal supervision;
* Prior experience working with SMARTPAY would be an asset;
* Experience working in a Shared Services environment is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
* Payroll Processing, including pro-actively monitoring and driving issues to a quick resolution;
* Ensure that all payroll information, files, and records are maintained in accordance with company policies and
local statutes;
* Prepare required analysis and reports driven by payroll data;
* Provide leadership and assists in overseeing of the activities in the processing of payroll data, including all forms
of deductions;
* Monitor internal controls by reviewing payroll processing files and validating manual cheques and/or online
payments;
* Assists in the coordination and administration of assignments, monitor team progress, and maintains deadlines;
* Assist in the execution of payroll special events (year end, special payments, etc.);
* Assist with internal and external audits, including compilation of data;
* Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous priorities and achieve results without close supervision;
* Assist in developing team members and provide ongoing professional guidance and direction;
* Act as a liaison with both internal and external clients.
Knowledge and Skill Required:
* Proven management and leadership skills;
* Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving ability;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
* Thorough understanding of payroll functions;
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
* Ability to motivate staff.
