We responding to the changing needs of the Business, ultimately driven by delivering what our Customers want, and how they would like to shop.

This role will be a key part of a team that will support the SSL Marketing Division, as well as working closely alongside the Nectar 360 finance team. Working in an integrated way across the Group is a key part of how we will now work. Marketing Finance is involved in a number of key pieces of work which has meant we are at the forefront of Loyalty and Marketing analysis and accounting for the Group.

What you need to do

Your role has a strong business partnering element as well as core financial accounting requirements. You will support your Marketing Division business partners and the wider Marketing and Loyalty Finance team colleagues

As part of the Marketing and Loyalty Finance team, you will have:

Responsibility for ensuring timely support and accounting of Marketing spend in key areas such as promotions and trade driving activity

Support the Marketing Leadership team; providing critical financial analysis to support decision making and evaluation of key campaigns and promotions.

Working closely with the Marketing division to ensure that we are accurately recording Marketing costs, ensuring tight budget management, and good practice when it comes to managing the accounts

Closely monitor Nectar points issuance from across the group; Supermarkets, Convenience, Fuel, Bank and Argos. Provide the MLT with regular insights as to point issuance vs target

Work alongside marketing analytics teams to validate key ROI methodologies from across our loyalty programmes; and where applicable feeding outputs into finance stakeholders across the group (e.g. Commercial Trading Finance)

Represent finance through key activity PIR processes; ensuring that financial benefits have been robustly challenged, validated - and circulated up to the Senior Finance Manager / Senior Manager ahead of publication

Responsibility for the analysis of best in class management accounts; providing critical variance analysis and working alongside the business to update 'in flight' forecasts

Provide a clear narrative each period as to key movements within your area, agreeing this with the business, alongside agreeing future actions and ensuring these are followed up

Acting as the lead on, or contributing to Capex planning, Budget, Q2F, Corporate planning and latest view forecasting in your area, working with your peers as needed

Ensure the Marketing team understand and adhere to the relevant accounting policies and provide training as needed.

Be comfortable working with ambiguity across a number of projects and taking a proactive approach in supporting the various teams, leading as a Finance professional

Comfortable to flag and drive the Finance agenda, and challenge your senior stakeholders - making decisions or recommendations as needed

Stepping up to cover the C6 Marketing Senior Finance Manager as needed in sessions with the Marketing division

What you need to know

A proven track record of financial control, but also the ability to develop and maintain such an environment

Be commercially astute and inquisitive

CIMA/ACA/ACCA fully qualified or relevant suitable experience

Advanced Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight

What you need to show

A self-starter, and a strong team player that can work independently, spotting the areas to focus on and assisting in the decision making process

Great relationship building skills; you will need to work across the group (Commercial, Marketing, Nectar 360, Bank) to ensure the financial impacts of promotion activity are accurately captured and in forecast

Ability to demonstrate great judgement when needed

Great communication skills, able to influence audiences of varying financial and commercial backgrounds

High levels of pace, energy and resilience

Must have a strong eye for detail and a passion for accuracy

Agree improvements in reporting / format of key reports and papers with the business

Job-holder may need to deputise for the Marketing Senior Finance Manager, or Head of Marketing and Loyalty Finance at times in appropriate Forums
