West Suffolk College has an opening for an Apprentice in Finance, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in starting a career in finance. Initially supporting the Finance Assistant for the Bursary, this role will vary during the fixed term contract allowing the opportunity to gain a wide understanding of Finance roles including Cash Book and Sales Ledger.

Role Responsibilities
Initially your role will support the Bursary and responsibilities will include:
- Help in the administration of the Discretionary Learner Support Fund, including opening accounts, inputting invoices and answering customer queries
- Process cheque requisitions, refunds and internet payments arranging for appropriate authorisation
- Collect & distribute the departmental post
- Balance departmental control accounts
- Raising and distributing Sales ledger invoices and credit notes on a daily basis.
You will also get the opportunity to experience the following roles
Cash book
- Daily inputting, checking and reconciling of the bank statements
- Reconciling the credit card bank account
- Maintenance of the nominal ledger accounts
- Accruals for month end accounts
Sales ledger
- Credit control
- Input and monitor sales ledger invoices, credit notes and receipts
- Monitoring DD's
- Supporting the Management Accountant

- Good administrative and record keeping skills
- Competence in communication and mathematical skills

- Good IT skills
- Working knowledge of Sage, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
