This is a key role within the London Estate and Operations finance team. The London Estate is a c. £5bn property portfolio, with residential, retail, office and hotel assets located in Mayfair and Belgravia. The role is responsible for producing high quality management and financial information and insight on the performance of the London Estate. This provides the business, finance and leadership teams with the insight and understanding to inform decision making and enhance business performance.

With great access to a broad range of stakeholders in the business, this role offers the opportunity to influence business outcomes through accurate and relevant analysis of past and future performance. The timely identification, interpretation and communication of key themes and drivers of business performance will be a critical success factor.

The successful candidate will have a full overview of the London Estate, with direct exposure to Asset Managers, Property Managers and Finance Business Partners. This is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in a large, multi-sector property investment and development business.

Key responsibilities Written and numerical insight and analysis of segments and divisions of the portfolio Working alongside the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis and Finance Business Partners: organisation, preparation, collation and consolidation of the budgeting and quarterly forecasting (P&L and balance sheet) for the London Estate and Operations business, and overlaying a critical eye from having the holistic view of the constituent parts Providing ad-hoc support to the Finance Director of the London Estate and Operations Contributing to the long term business plan and strategy through preparation of balanced scorecards, dashboards and KPIs Seeking out and implementing business process improvements

To achieve this it will be necessary to: Work closely with the Location teams and Finance Business Partners to identify areas where additional insight would be beneficial Build and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with the Location, Operations and Finance teams Challenge performance where it falls short of expected standards and highlight areas of outperformance that can be replicated elsewhere Work closely with the Management Accountants to share insights between forecast and actual performance Maximise the effectiveness of the team's use of the Voyager (property management and accounting), FinAsset (asset management and forecasting system) and Cognos (consolidation and reporting) Be willing to innovate or look across the group and externally to identify and adopt best practice

Key Relationships: The role will report to the Finance Director of London Estate and Operations, but also take day to day guidance from the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, and the Finance Business Partners as required The Location teams and Operations teams - in particular, to provide understanding and insight into performance. Other finance team members within the London Office (Strategy/Research/Analysis, Group Finance, GBI Financial Reporting, GBI Development, Treasury, Tax)

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

The key skills required in this role are software/systems based, for an analytically minded candidate who also has a basic level of accountancy knowledge and a keen interest to learn more on the job/additional study. We are looking for a fast learner - able to pick up new concepts quickly (accounting, property, commercial) and apply them with support, and with a curiosity to learn more.

Strong system and IT skills - has a keen interest in computing and the use of technology to aid reporting, date capture, decision making and to achieve business efficiencies; experience of working across multiple systems desirable. Confident in taking on super-user responsibilities and liaising with Group Technology on behalf of the team Advanced Excel - able to create complex formulae from scratch as well as adapting existing schedules and models. Ability to write Macros and experience with database software would be advantageous Excellent numerical and analytical skills, able to quickly manipulate and make sense of large datasets and be accountable for outputs Part Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or overseas equivalent) or recent accounting graduate looking to begin their accounting studies. Study support will be available for the successful candidate Understanding of accounting relevant to the activities of the business, can explain accounting concepts in plain business language to non-accountants High level of attention to detail is critical, but ability to step back and observe the bigger picture Proactive - able to identify and implement operational efficiency improvements Enthusiastic "can do" attitude, able to work without supervision and evidence independent decision making and self-review in previous roles Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills - ability to get large quantities of information, often in short timeframes, and willing to apply challenge where appropriate Effective communication; able to adapt approach and language to suit audience Strong organisational skills, flexible and able to cope with peak periods and high volumes. Can demonstrate ability to plan their work in advance. Sustainability - implements more sustainable ways of working and encourages others to improve sustainability performance Genuine interest in property and specifically GBI's Investment business (previous experience in or exposure to a property business would be useful but not essential)
