Position Highlights
University Information Technology Services (UITS), is accepting applications for a Business Analyst, Senior to support the Student Records module within UAccess Student! The Business Analyst, Senior is part of a team which provides functional support for various systems and/or applications, by being a liaison between business users and the technical team to analyze, develop and implement business processes to provide the most efficient methods or procedures. They will coordinate the process of defining, investigating and solving problems related to administrative systems and special projects with an emphasis on user-related solutions. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The University is committed to training the successful candidate in the systems being supported. The Business Analyst, Senior will work directly with the Office of the Registrar, the Curriculum Office, and the UITS technical team in the optimization of business processes and UAccess systems to improve services for new and continuing students.

UITS is a $60M organization of approximately 300 employees responsible for providing enterprise network, telecommunications, computing, and data services to the University of Arizona. UITS offers a broad array of services to the university community ranging from deploying and managing the campus' wired and wireless networks to stewardship of the administrative applications that support the HR, payroll, finance, and student lifecycle management activities of the institution.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Participates in the planning, scheduling, and controllingthe implementation of new or modified functionality within UAccess Student.
  • Participatesin the planning, scheduling, developing and presentation of training programsfor users of UAccess Student.
  • Reviews,researches, and evaluates requests from campus partners to determine itsusefulness and specifications as related to existing or proposed changes withinUAccess Student.
  • Conductsmeetings to encourage interaction and the exchange of ideas from variousorganizations to facilitate solutions to administrative problems.
  • Createsbusiness cases, use cases, fit gap analysis, and functional requirementspecifications.
  • Participatesin problem solving in areas such as system design, input/output requirementsand procedural flow between departments and/or division when developing andimplementing administrative systems.
  • Interviewsemployees at all levels to analyze policies, work procedures and operationalmethods for the needs analysis stage of system development.
  • Participatesin analyzing and documenting existing processes and systems for possibleimprovements and recommends new or revised systems.
  • Conductsunit testing to ensure system upgrades and/or modifications are functioning asspecified.
  • Actsas a project leader on small to medium sized projects or on a portion of alarger project.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is typically required.
  • OR, any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with relevant student records policies, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of higher education administrative systems and related business principles.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting user needs analysis, and in performing systems analysis.
  • Knowledge of forms design and procedures development.
  • Skill in analyzing and developing effective solutions for organizational problems.
  • Skill in conducting interviews and facilitating group meetings.
  • Skill in coordinating the development and presentation of user oriented training programs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.


Preferred Qualifications
• An understanding of the student experience as it pertains to the life cycle of a student from admission, orientation, enrollment, and degree progress through graduation.• Experience in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions: Academic Structure, Student Records and Campus Community module areas. • Experience with higher education and related business principles.
