Our finance team in Sofia, Bulgaria is growing and we want to appoint a General Accounting Manager. The General Accounting Manager will collaborate with stakeholders inside and outside the organization to provide accurate and reliable financial information, but not limited to the following:
- Provide guidance in line with the designed process and manage escalations as needed
- Allocate tasks to optimize efficiency across onshore and offshore direct and indirect reports
- Review identified material journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by onshore and offshore accountants and corresponding supporting documentation
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations that have been identified as complex, material, or high risk
- Review and refine financial statement variance explanations prepared by accountants with additional business context behind the transactions
- Manage the timely and accurate completion of assigned close activities and resolve issues
- Respond to ad hoc requests and maintain assigned service levels with Segment, BU and corporate contacts
- Provide feedback to onshore and offshore accountants, gather feedback and requests from Segment / BU / Corporate Controllership, and promote continuous development within the accounting team
- Observe the effectiveness of policies, procedures, and controls implemented to minimize risk and take corrective action if necessary
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the general accounting function
Education/Qualifications:
- Minimum - Bachelor's degree in accounting, or equivalent number of years of experience
- Preferred - CPA and advanced accounting degree
Experience:
- 5 + years of business experience within Accounting with increasing responsibility
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience
- Professional certification (CPA) and advanced Accounting degree preferred
- Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate direct and indirect reports
- Adhere to a proactive approach, with the ability to problem solve, and interact professionally with internal and external clients in order to meet everyone's needs in an effective and timely manner
- Demonstrate ability to plan, multi-task and prioritize
- Proficient in Excel and Word (intermediate level)
- Previous experience with ERP system (PeopleSoft preferred)
- Problem solving skills
- Experience working with a global team
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of US GAAP principles and internal control environments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with large amounts of data
