Role: Business Analyst

Salary: £Competitive basic salary + bonus + benefits

Location: Whitbread Court, Dunstable (currently remote)

Reporting directly to the FP&A Manager, the Business Analyst will support the external reporting process through business partnering Investor Relations, producing the Trading Statement and verifying information included in Whitbread's external announcements. The Business Analyst will support the analytical review of management information for period reporting, with a core element on forecasting, budget and business plan cycles. This role will require someone with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build strong networks with Finance teams and teams across the organisation.

Inside the role:
  • Communication of external reporting calendar with buy-in from relevant stakeholders.
  • Supporting in the delivery of financial modelling across the group, demonstrating the ability to work with ambiguous or limited information and deliver clear outputs which provide great insight.
  • Collation of the group's data and information for external statements providing analytical support to explain the group's results to an external audience.
  • Organise the data securely and ensure that it is signed off by the relevant Finance teams in line with the financial control framework.
  • "Own" the data, building flexibility to change and add to this as requirements change. Improve current process with focus on control and efficiencies.
  • Support on delivery of the KPI pack, including appropriate analytical review and appropriate support and challenge to relevant finance teams.
  • Review the financial outputs to be presented and update to accommodate current trends or KPIs
  • Identify and model scenarios to test the plan's robustness, with dynamic outputs and sensitivities built in as standard.
  • Improve planning process through robust variance analysis/ analytical review, by drilling into and challenging the outputs so that they are clearly understood, documented and communicated upwards.
  • Review current excel spreadsheet models, look for efficiencies and potential developments to enhance business understanding and reporting.

Open to you:
  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or newly qualified, focused team player who has a professional approach and can work effectively, autonomously as well as collaboratively as part of a team
  • Experience in a financial or analytical role
  • Basic knowledge of financial reporting and analysis
  • Financial modelling and data management
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Organised and motivated, able to own, manage and prioritise own work.
  • Good system & Excel skills
  • Previous experience working in a finance function

Experience working in a high pressured environment, meeting deadlines consistently whilst maintaining accuracy
  • Ownership and responsible for delivering on targets
