Job Description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our highly reputable client to control the financial running’s of the company. This will require the ideal candidate to manage detailed and accurate financial records, ensuring the long-term financial success of the Company and carry out various daily and monthly accounting tasks to ensure the smooth running of the finance department.

Our Client are a leading distributor of water pumps for the construction, utility, tool & plant hire and flood defence sectors. They supply and sell high quality and durable products from quality assured brands such as Tsurumi, Honda and more.

Responsibilities

  • To significantly contribute individually and as part of the team to achieve the above job purpose.
  • Be responsible for the Company’s financial running and ensure it is operating within UK Financial Standards.
  • Manage the Company’s cash position to ensure funds are available consistently.
  • Monitor currency rates and purchase where necessary, ensuring best possible rates are secured.
  • Liaise with department managers to ensure Company financial goals are achieved.
  • Oversee the monthly preparation of the management accounts and submit to TEG by 15th of the month.
  • Prepare monthly management reports for the managing director, including profit and loss reporting and commentary.
  • Prepare monthly product and market reports, with budget and prior year comparisons, for the Managing Director.
  • Publish weekly sales performance results with budget comparison and prediction, for the managing director, line managers and TEG.
  • Monitoring of expenditure versus budget, communicating this to the Managing Director and line managers.
  • Ensure all submissions and payments are made to HMRC for PAYE/NIC, VAT and Corporation Tax on a timely basis.
  • Manage the payroll function of the organisation, paying salaries, national insurance, tax and pensions and monitoring overtime.
  • Managing purchase ledger and paying suppliers.
  • Prepare, monitor, and adjust cashflow forecasts. Lead the preparation of the annual budget and complete periodical re-forecasting.
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure quarterly and year-end audit is completed by the deadline set by PWC.
  • Oversee company credit control.
  • Management and development of accounts staff.
  • Identifying and improving current financial processes to ensure they are as efficient as possible.
  • Assisting the Managing Director with line manager report meetings.
  • Continuously developing relationships with stakeholders to drive the importance of adding value to ensure improved profitability within the business.
  • Ensure all company insurance and subscriptions remain up to date.
  • Oversee and Pioneer the Company CSR strategy.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Managing Director.
Required skills:

  • Skilled in office technology: especially in the mastery of Microsoft Excel and databases. Be able to utilize data from different sources and bring together.
  • Team management.
  • Process improvement.
  • Statutory accounts.
  • Implementation experience.
  • An ability to add value to the financials of the business.
  • An ability to work within a standalone role.
  • An interest in engineering and/or experience in an industrial equipment sales distribution business is an advantage.

  • For the right candidate to have commercial experience and confidence to work in a customer facing role who understands sales.
  • A desire to understand the business, its markets, customers, and suppliers and help them grow, find out why they are in demand.
  • To be able to work closely with the Managing Director.
  • Someone who may want to lead or be part of a team that leads the company in 3 to 8 years.
  • Build and retain good relationships with colleagues.
  • Follow and be able to interpret economic events.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Offer ideas and opinions about projects, plans, resolving problems that are not just finance related.
