Role The role involves working for Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services, a global fund administrator, specializing in complex hedge funds and alternative asset investments. The successful candidate will be an ambitious self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to problem solve in a dynamic, fast-paced and demanding environment. This individual will have a strong technical background and experience working on Software Development projects. The role will be a key part of our hedge fund administration business and will be visible to key vendor relationships. Major Duties
Execute testing of new system functionality and regression testing of complex proprietary software Clearly document bugs to be reported to technology vender with full support describing the issue Analyze bugs and clearly communicate detailed examples with steps to recreate Provide recommendations to enhance test plans based off business requirements outlining specific use cases with expected results to support effective testing Effectively manage daily priorities and workload within provided timelines Maintain all test-related project artefacts, project plans and provide scoping and estimated timelines for larger scale test requests Manage defects, testing-related project risks, reporting, test status meetings/updates and communications within project/release as well as to Project Managers/Business leads Responsible for providing timely response to queries and finding resolution to avoid repetitive actions Works effectively both as a team member as well as an independent self-motivated individual Responsible for multiple projects of various complexities Establish, build and maintain effective working relationships with key partners internal and external to the organization Accountabilities Employees are required to comply with the regulatory regime in which Northern Trust operates as appropriate to the above role Employees are expected to exercise due care and diligence, ensuring the areas the incumbent is responsible for are organised and controlled Employees are required to observe proper standards of market, business and personal conduct, demonstrating integrity in the execution of duties Generating efficiencies within the team and effective utilization of resources Demonstrate high ethical standards. Skills Ability to perform both positive and negative testing as part of UAT Ability to perform regression testing Excellent prioritization skills Be able to mentor through confidence and approachability Good analytical, numerical and reasoning skills Time management and delegation skills Approachable and able to promote teamwork through creative solutions Self-starter with the ability to function independently in a fast-paced, dynamic and demanding environment Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint presentations Excellent spoken and written English and the ability to write business correspondence Proactive and capable to handle multiple tasks under extremely time sensitive conditions Excellent team management and motivation skills Demonstrating that planning activities and decision-making are done with the appropriate consideration for the level of risk involved Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Finance, Accounting or Information Technology Master degree a plus Around 3-5 years of work experience related to Regression Testing, Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control of software development projects Experience working on projects under Scrum/Agile methodology Experience with Hedge Funds, Investment Management and/or Financial Services a plus Should be flexible for shifts and extended working hours
