Responsible for overseeing a team/function focused on managing interest rate risk in the context of the Bank’s broader balance sheet by using a combination of interest rate products (securities and derivatives). Conducts performance management and career development processes, and staffing and disciplinary actions. Develops the strategic plan and sets goals for the unit.

Major Duties:

  • Manages a Bank Portfolio team/function. Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork and communication.
  • Manages a significant part of the corporation’s USD investment portfolio (U.S. Treasuries, Agencies, Corporates, SSA, etc.).
  • Evaluates and develops investment objectives and guidelines as appropriate given risk tolerances.
  • Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues
  • Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity
  • Develops periodic goals, organizes the work, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities, and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work.
  • Participates in developing team’s strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit; follows through to ensure that objectives are met
  • Lead IT enhancement initiatives including development building budget management, and testing around portfolio/derivative activities
  • Work multiple stakeholders across Treasury, Compliance, Finance, Operations, Legal, Audit and Risk to achieve business unit objectives.
  • Manages projects, including planning, organizing, and directing activities towards project goal completion, including management reporting
  • Lead and coordinate new products initiatives as recommended by the team.
  • Leads other strategic projects as directed.
  • Knowledge/Skills:

    • Leadership and organizational skills are required to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards the goals set. 
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of fixed income and derivative investment products, services, and terminology, usually acquired through experience and formal education
    • Analytical and organizational skills
    • Highly flexible and adaptable to change
    • Technical skills / systems knowledge (e.g. Bloomberg, Aladdin, Microsoft) is required to analyze investments

    Experience Required:

    A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience for a financial industry in investments is preferred. Advanced degree and/or related Industry qualification is preferred
