Job Purpose:

As Financial Controller for Business Services you will be responsible for the reporting, analysing and monitoring of key financial processes to ensure the smooth running of your business unit. You will be the person who understands, in depth, the organisational accounting operations, evaluating and managing risk, compliance and payroll processes whilst providing a unique perspective that looks across all departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide analytical, monitoring and reporting expertise on your business unit's financial performance.
  • Be accountable for the accuracy of financial records, compliance, audit findings.
  • Manage business unit transactions from accounts payable to receivable payroll and from control accounts to general operational finance.
  • Understand the value drivers of the business and your business unit's contribution to this.
  • Proactive identification, assessment and management of financial and commercial risks.
  • Understand performance trends, develop and implement strategies to improve them within your business unit.
  • Communicate well with all level of employees (orally and written).
  • Ability to improve processes and controls on an ongoing basis.
  • Facilitate and lead strong change management processes.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure proper reporting standards are being utilized.
  • Deputise for Business Unit FD

Person Specification:
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Extensive experience working in a finance team, preferably within a similar industry.
  • Understanding of payroll /pensions statutory compliance, preferment to a UK environment.
  • Prior experience of working with an outsourced organisation is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in relevant IT platforms.
  • High level of integrity and honesty.
  • Strong results orientation; willing to challenge and be challenged.
  • Deep financial and governance acumen.
  • Instil trust within your business unit.
  • Good people and relationship skills, with the ability to effectively communicate well with all level of employees.
  • Ability to develop KPIs and understand performance trends, developing and implementing strategies to improve them within your business unit.
