The Role We are looking for a Tax Accountant with a strong passion for analytical thinking and meticulous attention to detail.

The jobholder ensures the accuracy and timely submission of required direct and indirect tax returns for the Automotive group of companies. This will include performing reconciliations and analysis of transactional data, ensuring tax rules have been adhered to and documentation is complete.

This includes (but is not limited to)

  • Ensure integrity of data, including adherence to country specific VAT requirements
  • Review financial postings by tax code and correct as necessary
  • Prepare online tax submissions
  • Review and validate purchase and sales invoices on a regular basis, ensuring appropriate VAT treatment and correct use of VAT codes
  • Collate and finalise Group Tax pack in support of the annual Corporate Income Tax returns and computations.
  • Support the Group Financial Controller with the introduction and on-going operation of a Tax Engine solution
  • Support with the preparation of R&D tax claims and/or other tax incentives
  • Support with VAT registration in new territories as required
  • Assist with the production of annual statutory accounts for Automotive Group
  • Support the Financial Accounting Manager in month-end close activity, including preparation of standard journals and financial data for review
  • Produce monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all tax accounts

The Tax Accountant is also expected to be more widely involved in the financial accounting of the business, supporting the Financial Accounting Manager as required on project and ad-hoc work.

For the Tax Accountant, we are looking for
  • Accounting qualification (fully qualified AAT or ATT, part or fully qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA, or relevant degree).
  • Experience in the preparation and submission of UK and European VAT submissions
  • Experience of working across multiple countries / regions preferable
  • Good understanding of financial controls
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritise multiple activities
  • Able to work in a busy team environment and adhere to strict deadlines
  • A good working knowledge of SAP is desirable
  • Some Automotive industry and/or Manufacturing experience would be a positive but is not essential
