DescriptionRole Purpose

The role reports into the Commercial Finance Business Partner for recurring and digital content revenue. This role is responsible for the financial completeness of the ledger both P&L and B/S, working to a tight month-end timetable, for recurring and digital content revenue and associated cost of sales and overheads. This role would be a subject matter expert on the posting flows within his/ her area. This role will also provide key support to the Financial Planning and Analysis cycle.

Key Accountabilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Post accruals, prepayment and deferred revenue journals.
  • Interrogate the integrity of the ledger and reconcile transactions to linked ERP and reporting tools and softwares.
  • Close the P&L to a tight timetable.
  • Provide commentary and variance analysis on month-end numbers.
  • Complete and review Balance Sheet Reconciliations and identify risk.
  • Review associated AR and Cashbook postings.
  • Be a key contact for external auditors and interim and year-end audit deliverables.
  • Engage with the business and operational teams, to ensure robustness of the ledger and record to report function.
  • Support the commercial finance team during the annual planning process.
  • Deliver appropriate reporting/analysis to the business as required.
  • Review the work of an Accounts Assistant


Requirements
  • Graduate with Accounting & Finance or relevant work experience
  • Experience of month-end close to a tight timetable
  • Ownership of B/S reconciliations
  • Strong MS Office skills including Excel (including pivot tables, macros and vlookups), Word and Powerpoint skills, as well as Google Sheets/docs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to quickly absorb and proactive approach to work
  • An enquiring mind with strong analysis and numerical ability
  • The ability to be both a team player and able to work using your own initiative
  • An ability to work in an environment that changes at pace


Desirable Skills And Experience
  • An understanding of the media business desirable and or recurring revenues
  • Part qualified accountant working towards a professional qualification: e.g. CIMA, ACCA.
