Payments - Operations and Resilience

Our client is a leading global banking group, looking for a highly motivated Payments / Risk / Regulatory Reporting expert who is passionate about improving payments processes and providing a payment service that is seamless, efficient and secure.

About You

You will have experience and knowledge of banking payment operations, payment systems and payments infrastructure. You will ideally have worked in a first-line facing, operational role where you have both partnered and challenged the business. You will have an understanding of the regulatory pressures, expectations and submissions surrounding the full range of payments issues as well as hands-on experience interpreting regulatory expectations and writing appropriate policy documents and business user guides.

  • The ideal candidate will take on a role within the business working a multi-faceted, project delivery role with strong elements of change management, risk analysis report writing as well as challenging the current controls used for Payment Services.
  • You will most likely become an SME in Payments Risk Management with expertise covering the PSD2 guidelines and directives.
  • You will work closely with the Risk Management function to co-ordinate the implementation of a best practice framework and meet regulatory 'Operational Resilience' expectations.
  • You may have regularly interacted with external stakeholders such as FCA or an Open Banking Implementation Entity with duties supporting the payments teams in setting up processes for ongoing PSD2 regulatory reports eg REP018 Operational and Security Risk form, REP017 Payments Fraud report and REP020 Statistics on the Availability and Performance of a Dedicated Interface.

  • Experience of Payment Systems and an understanding of the current systems, controls and regulations in this arena.
  • Conducting analysis and some experience working with the Risk Management team and frameworks is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrate experience as capable of excellent people leadership skills in maintaining good business relationships within the business units and across the corporation
  • Strong abilities in communicating the need for change and coming up with effective ways to bring about process improvements
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to use initiative and influence a variety of stakeholders across all levels of the business

  • Demonstrable track record of project delivery and experience handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience of working in Payments Operations
  • Experience developing, implementing and discussing procedural changes with the business.
  • An understanding of applicable UK and EU financial services legislation pertaining to payments
  • Experience in Financial Services in banking (retail/wholesale), capital markets, corporate banking, consulting (financial services) or at the regulator on prudential matters
  • Good knowledge of the financial services industry, related to regulatory Payments regulation and practices
  • Ability to research and interpret internal and external best practice regulatory requirements pertaining to Payments and make improvements to existing practice.
