The global accounting organization supports our financial reporting, internal control, intercompany, and transfer pricing activities as well as supports new business launches globally for Amazon in the consumer products, digital initiatives, merchant, operations, logistics, payments, and cloud computing lines of business.

Amazon seeks a high caliber Senior Accounting Manager who will be responsible for proper and accurate accounting of business operations for Amazon's APAC IFRS based geographies and Southeast Asia locations. This position will report to Amazon's Global Consumer Accounting Director and will also support other regulatory and compliance activities including annual audits of financial statements, internal control testing, and other compliance or regulatory requests, as needed for the region. The position will also lead a new projects team developed to support system enhancements to global statutory compliance. As a Senior Manager, this position will be expected to actively and frequently engage with other functional leads in the accounting, finance, tax, finance business services, tech teams, and operations teams in APAC, LATAM, and Seattle. This position will be responsible for maintaining current and comprehensive process documentation to support effective internal control and complete financial reporting responsibilities timely and accurately.

This position will lead a growing team of accounting professionals locally and will collaborate closely with the global accounting team to develop longer term strategy, process improvement initiatives, and assist in the identification of standards for global consistency. In addition to excellent technical accounting and reporting skills, the successful candidate will be a demonstrated leader, a collaborative team-player, and excellent communicator.

The accounting team is also responsible for supporting the large number of new business initiatives by actively participating in the design of processes and systems that will be responsible for managing financial transactions.

Responsibilities include:
• Monthly financial reporting and internal control assessments
• Ownership of all aspects of statutory accounting and external filings in 15 countries in APAC. Responsible for managing the audit process and the execution of the plan. Maintains the relationship with external auditors, authorities and other governmental bodies.
• Supports the company in the adoption of new local and US accounting standards through technical research, documentation, process modification and project management of the tasks required for implementation.
• Continuously evaluates, documents and works with US accounting team to reach conclusion on US GAAP and local Accounting Standards of business events.
• Actively engaged with new business initiatives as needed.
• Leverages knowledge of local requirements from APAC and LATAM geographies to drive continuous improvement and identifies, designs and implements scalable processes. Develops and implements best practice that can be used globally.
• Is driven to be a mentor and coach to their team as a bar-raising leader.

Manages a team based in Singapore, Sydney, Bangalore, Beijing, and Mexico City.

Basic Qualifications:
• CPA, Chartered Accountant or similar qualification. • Project management certification or training • Experience leading large accounting and tax projects with in-house development teams • Strong communications and influencing skills and able to work effectively with teams across the globe. • 15+ years of combined Big-4 public accounting and multi-national corporate or operational accounting experience. • Sound knowledge of local accounting standards used in APAC, LATAM, IFRS, and US GAAP. • Demonstrated leader with passion for team development. • Process design and internal control experience is required. • Program management, IT and system integration experience also necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a US based public company with sales over $5 billion would be preferred. • Experience leading a team in multiple high growth international locations of a US based company. • Experience with IT process architecture and experience working with system development teams on a regular basis. • Experience managing regulated entities. • Experience translating accounting and tax requirements into technical requirements for implementation. • Experience designing and executing user testing.
