The Opportunity

Veolia Australia & New Zealand is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Financial Accountant to join our National Office team based in Pyrmont on a permanent full time basis.

Reporting into the Finance Manager for Accounting, you will be tasked with delivering high quality Shared Services Accounting support across the group, with a focus on weekly and monthly accounting and financial controls and disciplines including Balance Sheet reconciliations. You will also be responsible for Payroll journal processing, reconciliation and reporting by assisting the Shared Services Manager.

You will be joining a high performing team that prides themselves on their attention to detail, their collaborative and supportive team culture and the high level of service that they provide to the business.

Snapshot of key responsibilities include:

  • Weekly reporting and preparation and processing of weekly journals
  • Perform month end closing - Balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, and ensure information is included in the system accurately
  • Assist with preparing Statutory Accounts and other external reporting
  • Maintain effective business partnership with Business Line, Segment finance teams and auditors
  • Respond in a timely manner to queries from Corporate Office in relation to monthly results
  • Provide continuous improvement of the accounting department functions and processes
  • Actively participate in team's cross training exercise in order to be able to back/support team members in their planned or unplanned absences
  • Other ad hoc duties/projects as required
You'll need:

  • University degree (e.g. Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent)
  • Working toward professional Qualifications (CPA/CA)
  • A minimum of 3 years + post grad accounting experience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Great communication skills.
