Established and growing West Australian Mining company who are part of a large Global Resources Group. Reporting to the Financial Controller you will be responsible for the provision of month end financial and management accounting and reporting.

This is an initial 6 months maternity cover contract which could be extended a further 6 months or be made permanent for the successful applicant. Based in the CBD this is a 5 day, 38 hours per week position with flexible working hours including the option of working from home part of the week. You will be on the company payroll with annual leave, sick leave and paid public holiday entitlement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Financial Controller you will provide accounting and finance support to site and the Perth office.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and mine-site reports.
  • Revision of P&L items including cost variance analysis and maintain full balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including Carriage and Insurance Paid to management, assets capitalisation and disposal, GL reconciliation and assets useful life review.
  • Management and analysis of stock valuation.
  • Liaison with the export department to oversee the processing of all shipping invoices, payments and receipts on the accounting system.
  • Complete assigned month end journals including maintaining and updating periodic journals and reconciliation of their pre-payment, royalty, FTC rebates and accrual control accounts.
  • Prepare and accurately complete bank reconciliations.
  • Support monthly presentations to Group HQ and Management with detailed analysis of variance to budgets and previous month's result.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting preparation and analysis.
  • Prepare and consolidate all group companies BAS, income tax and FBT reporting and lodgement.
  • Liaise and support during the audit process.
  • Group monthly consolidation and quarterly reporting for Group HQ's reporting package.
  • Assist in preparation of the group's statutory accounts, reporting and reconciliation.
  • Complete all ABS surveys to submission deadline.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX Internal Control procedures.
  • Other ad-hoc accounting and finance support as directed by the Financial Controller

Key Requirements

  • Fully qualified Accountant (CA, CPA or equivalent overseas qualification).
  • Minimum of 3 years PQE.
  • Pronto experience desirable.
  • Excel - Intermediate to Advanced level.
  • Previous and recent experience in a similar position.
  • Resources sector experience required
  • Previous experience of working for a mining operator preferred.
  • Experience of site based stakeholder engagement.
  • Be immediately available and able to commit to a 6 months contract.
