You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely execution of all Supplier Payments for all Sainsbury's entities. You will ensure all payment financial controls are unrelentingly adhered to and advocated to stakeholders. Run AP Period Close and SSP accrual process and complete periodic balance sheets and KPI's. Support the AP process, ensuring the business and its suppliers' receive an efficient service and all risks are mitigated.

What you need to do
  • Ensure accurate and timely payments of approximately £83m per day across 5000 suppliers, GFR & GNFR maintaining financial control at all times
  • Complete daily controls and reconciliations ensuring there are no discrepancies
  • Reconcile AP Balance Sheets for all Group Entities
  • Query resolution - Investigate and resolve payment related supplier queries from both internal and external stakeholders
  • Produce the KPI dashboard for AP team for all Group Entities
  • Support team development opportunities, ensuring team members extend their understanding of the Sainsbury's business and personal development
  • Support ongoing training to the AP team stakeholders. Ensure stakeholders are engaged and comply with process requirements
  • Manage and assist role and team stakeholders, ensuring operational and other issues are understood and impacts managed to ensure continual team goal delivery
  • Ensure all process maps and notes are up to date reflecting current business practices
  • Complete testing for any new systems/system upgrades/process improvements
  • Cover for members of the wider team during absences

  • High payment to terms adherence
  • No instances of Fraud
  • No instances of trade being affected by supplier accounts being held due to non-payment
  • Reduction in manual processes and reconciliation time
  • Accurate reporting and forecasting
  • No outstanding audit actions

What you need to know and show

Essential
  • Very strong excel skills
  • Wide ranging use of Oracle Financials, especially AP, GL, SSP
  • Training towards a Professional accounting qualification (AAT/CIMA Certificate/ACCA Foundation Level) or relevant experience
  • Ability to see the big picture
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Very good level of impact and influence
  • Excellent forward planning and organisation skills
  • Very good network and partnering skills
  • Very good communicator both orally and written
  • Good commercial acumen

Desirable
  • Previous finance and retail industry experience would be an advantage
