Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller, the Senior Finance Manager - Financial Accounting provides a reliable, timely close and technical accounting process, including inventory, fixed assets, inter-company and overall Group & Statutory Reporting. The role provides global exposure working closely with the Group Controllership teams in both in the UK and abroad, along with the extended offshore finance team.

A leading British retailer, part of an international group who additionally operate throughout Ireland, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands and Thailand.


  • Ownership and leadership of all Group and statutory reporting, as well as all close processing including intercompany, fixed assets and inventory
  • Responsibility for the review of journals and account reconciliations together with overseeing any necessary investigation work, including certain tasks completed by the extended offshore finance team
  • Providing technical support and review of technical accounting issues, including support and challenge for investment and accounting papers, and other ad-hoc projects
  • Lead and motivate the onshore finance team of to continuously deliver to a high standard whilst ensuring the personal development and coaching of each team member
  • Working closely with the extended offshore finance team to maintain high standard of deliverables, with the ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working in pursuit of efficiency and control improvements


  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong technical accounting skills, including excellent knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial issues to those with a non-finance background, and build strong relationships with senior business partners across the business, and within finance both on and offshore
  • Proven experience of timely and accurate delivery of both month-end and year-end reporting including statutory audits
  • Passionate and results-driven, with proven ability to manage and prioritise tasks and work to tight reporting deadlines, and a willingness to challenge around accounting matters
  • Strong MS Office, with excellent Excel skills, SAP, Cognos and Blackline an advantage
