The key responsibilities of the Accountant will include:

  • Playing a leading part in new operational projects developing and implementing financial reconciliations
  • Working with the Finance Manager to analyse stock levels across the business entities including cost of sales
  • Business Partnering with IT, Supply Chain including preparation of periodic financial presentations
  • Producing a full set of Management Accounts of one the business subsidiaries
  • Managing budgeting and forecasting to demonstrate business performance
  • Presenting updated weekly cash flow forecasts in line with business performance
  • Striving to achieve accuracy and attention to detail including continuous process improvements
  • Support commercial decision making through ad hoc financial analysis across business locations
  • Provide insightful analysis to maximise company profitability, including product analysis.
  • Demonstrating an awareness of cost saving, including challenging & providing ideas
  • Preparing weekly reports that assist with key business decisions, margin, stockloss and reduce & waste performances


The successful Accountant will:

  • Maintain and demonstrate a strong fundamental accounting knowledge
  • Understand the importance of business processes within a retail or manufacturing environment and how that impacts profitability
  • Be full adaptable to relevant situations and not afraid to challenge to approach different departments
  • Have a full working knowledge of Excel, demonstrating a thorough and practical approach
  • Have a very varied approach to work including the abilities to manage workload and prioritise tasks
  • Have evidence in producing a full set of Management Accounts
  • Multi-currency experience - desirable
  • Backgrounds within either, Retail, FMCG, Manufacturing, Logistics - beneficial
  • Working knowledge of SAP - beneficial
  • Working towards a profession finance qualification - CIMA/ACCA
