Role Summary

This is a key role within the Singapore Finance team that shall be accountable for driving and implementing key Finance initiatives within Singapore and the APAC region in line with the overall APAC Finance strategy. These key initiatives can vary from the implementation of new accounting standards or regulatory requirements to new systems. The individual will be required to perform business analysis related to more complex accounting and analytical activities, develop business requirements, test scripts, perform user acceptance testing to successfully implement the initiatives with minimal supervision.

The individual will also have a component of business as usual finance responsibilities for Singapore and the APAC region and be a back up to other locations.

This is an individual contributor role. The successful candidate must demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills in projects’ implementation and have strong accounting experience. The individual will work closely with the Finance Country Heads throughout APAC and the APAC, CFO. This role is critical to the successful implementation of APAC related initiatives and is expected to maximize stakeholder engagement and build key relationships globally.

Principal Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Establish and develop strong working relationships and open communication with key stakeholders 
  • Accountable for own assignments and holding others accountable for theirs. Delivering when you say you will, and proactively managing expectations
  • Operational

  • Responsible for the implementation of projects (systems / regulatory / automation, etc)
  • Research and resolves complex accounting transactions and reporting issues, where some expertise is required to interpret policies, guidelines and/or processes
  • Work with various internal and external partners on cross-function processes or projects providing analytical and procedurally represent the team
  • May work closely with senior management on due diligence needed for acquisitions of companies or portfolios
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of all financial reporting systems and demonstrate the ability and the desire to share the knowledge in the form of training to lower level staff
  • Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of business unit / function
  • Provides comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level 
  • Carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult 
  • Addressing adhoc requests accurately and on a timely basis
  • Responsible for the consolidation and analysis of monthly financial results. 
  • Prepares and reviews periodic financial statements on an APAC consolidated basis. 
  • Prepares / reviews regulatory reports.
  • Recommend and implements process improvements identified in day to day work.
  • Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required; CA or CPA certification is preferred 
  • Previous Financial Analysis / Management Reporting experience within Financial Services Industry is required
  • Highly proficient in computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel, Access and VBA (at least intermediate level) is required
  • Ability to work in a structured environment, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas, perspectives and issues to senior management
  • Prior experience on TM1, Cognos will be highly valued. Technical skills / systems knowledge (e.g. Peoplesoft) is required
  • Tracked record for project implementation (systems, regulatory, automation)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • In-depth Functional / Bank Industry Knowledge 
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change

  • Must be a team player and able to work under pressure during peak periods
