Business Development, Accommodation, Catering & Events

Full Time - 35 Hours per week

The University of Edinburgh, through its Accommodation, Catering and Events (ACE) department, manages a large portfolio of hotels, venues, student and seasonal accommodation. This includes three year round hotels with circa 200 beds, 10,000 student bedrooms, which during the summer are used for large group bookings and individual leisure guests, and over 70 meeting and event spaces.

We are looking for a Business Analyst to join our team to support our strategic plans to improve occupancy, income and profitability across all of ACE's accommodation, conference and events businesses.

The Opportunity:

This is an excellent opportunity to join a team driven to deliver on ambitious plans and objectives. We are looking for a commercially astute candidate with proven experience in business analysis, preferably in the tourism/ hospitality sector. This role will conduct market analysis for all key areas of ACE's commercial business, developing and monitoring key metrics with a focus on market trends, customer demographics and competitor analysis. Strong technology, analytical and communications skills are required for this role.

Your skills and attributes for success:

• Ideally, educated to degree level with relevant experience in business analysis and management reporting.

• Experience of producing management information for a diverse, and preferably, commercial organisation.

• Have an analytical mind able to analyse and interpret underlying trends from large volumes of data

• Experience in working with third party suppliers to gain market insights using appropriate data solutions.

• Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability and confidence to relate to staff at all levels within the organisation and have confidence to challenge existing practices.
